How to do Fishtail Braids

Want to ace the fishtail braid? Follow these steps to perfect the look.

1: Choose a central point at your hairline of around four to five centimetres, and divide into two sections. Comb each section to release any tangles.

2: Cross the right-hand section over the left-hand section and, using your right hand press down on the point where the two sections cross over to hold hair in place.

3: Grab a new section of hair from underneath the left-hand side, about the same size as the first, and take it over to the right-hand section. As you do so, change the hand that’s holding down the crossover pint to your left. The ends of each section will naturally fall and mingle with the rest of your hair.

4: Now, use your right hand to pick up a new section of hair from underneath the right-hand side, and cross it over to the left hand side. As you do so, again change the hand that’s holding down the crossover point.

5: Repeat this process until you’re about an inch from the end of your hair and secure with a hair band.

A useful tip: if you get lost, remember the hand holding down the crossover point is the side from which you took the last strand.
